Safe Interactions with Shelter Dogs

Recognizing Stress Signals and Making Safer Handling Decisions

Problem

Shelter staff need practical ways to recognize canine stress signals and interact safely with unfamiliar dogs during everyday care.

Solution

Results & Takeaway

This project demonstrates how I used audience analysis, Action Mapping, and instructional planning to turn a workplace safety concern into scenario-based learning. Staff practice recognizing canine stress signals, choosing safer handling actions, and learning from immediate feedback. The design matrix and evaluation plan connect those activities to performance objectives and proposed measures of learning and on-the-job behavior.
